Learn about the role Criminology plays in understanding crime and how we deal with it, as well as effective criminal justice interventions.
A specialised bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice at UWA will teach you to draw upon knowledge and perspectives from disciplines including criminology, law, psychology, history, anthropology, geography, and forensic science.
Core criminology content will require you to learn about contemporary explanations for crime and criminality, the current structure of the criminal justice system, transnational and international crime, best-practice approaches to working with offenders, national and international factors impacting criminal justice policy-making and approaches to prevent contemporary crime and justice problems in Australia.
Included in this will be understanding the practical role Criminology plays in advising governments on issues relating to national, international, and transnational criminality, crime prevention, policing, sentencing, corrective services, offender treatment, and offender risk assessment and management.
Additionally, this extended major also requires students to develop a relevant understanding of the importance of forensic science for justice and the relevance of empirical research to guide policy development, reform and practice.

To be eligible for entry into an undergraduate program at UWA, you'll need to demonstrate academic performance through your school-leaving qualification or previous university study.
The minimum academic requirement for entry to The Western Australian Universities Foundation Program (WAUFP) is a Year 11 qualification or equivalent.
