The Bachelor of Earth Sciences at UWA is ideal for students who are curious about the complex system that comprises the solid Earth, its oceans and atmosphere, and the place of Earth in the solar system and beyond.
Geochemistry is the application of chemistry to understand Earth’s systems and processes.
Geochemistry is used to help understand a broad scope of areas such as how petroleum and mineral systems operate and in the study of groundwater, marine and coastal habitats, the discovery of alternative forms of energy as well as exploration of other planets.
Fuelled by competing desires for energy, responsible resource and land management, and technological advances, demand in this field is predicted to grow globally.
It will also enable students to learn how to gather and apply geochemical data to environmental and mineral exploration and production contexts in an increasingly digital world.

This major requires a certain level of Mathematics. If you do not meet this level, you may be able to take additional Mathematics units in your first year to satisfy this requirement.
To be eligible for entry into an undergraduate program at UWA, you'll need to demonstrate academic performance through your school-leaving qualification or previous university study.
The minimum academic requirement for entry to The Western Australian Universities Foundation Program (WAUFP) is a Year 11 qualification or equivalent.
