Master of Speech Pathology

You will learn through a problem-based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that facilitate the integration of theory and practice at Griffith

As a speech pathologist, you will be equipped to work in various health and educational settings. 

You will develop research literacy and enhance your ability to respond to changes and provide quality services throughout your professional life.

Work-integrated learning

Work-integrated learning activities (professional placements) integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. 

The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in the degree program demonstrates Griffith's commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life.

In this program, you will spend time in the work/professional environment undertaking placements at various locations. 

Placements in the second year of the course may be outside of the Gold Coast area, including Brisbane metropolitan, northern New South Wales and (by negotiation) interstate or overseas.

Academic background and requirement

Any Bachelor's degree (except Speech Pathology) (5.0 GPA) or higher and interview

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Speech Pathology, a student must have:

  • completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology) with a minimum GPA of 5.0 using a 7-point scale (studies must have been completed within ten years prior to the commencement of the trimester to which a student is applying and whilst there are no prerequisite study areas for admission, desirable areas include: Psychology; Health Science; Public Health; Medical Science; Human Services; Education; Linguistics) and
  • satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.
