Macquarie’s Bachelor of Arts has been reimagined by world-leading academics in consultation with industry partners and public-sector organisations.
Creative writing goes outside the bounds of professional, journalistic, academic or technical forms of literature.
An emphasis on narrative craft, character development and the use of literary figures typically identifies it.
Studying creative writing allows for artistic self-expression and will help you better understand reading and writing mechanics.
The Creative Writing major equips you with both theoretical knowledge and practice-based skills.
You’ll learn about the production and publishing contexts in which writing occurs and the cultural and social issues that shape writing in Australia and internationally.
You’ll study fiction, poetry, non-fiction, scriptwriting and writing for the digital environment.
Applied writing units contain a workshop component where you develop your creative concepts and put them into practice through writing, revising and responding to feedback.
