Macquarie’s Bachelor of Arts has been reimagined by world-leading academics in consultation with industry partners and public-sector organisations. 

Studying theatre, dance, performance and music – whether a novice or an experienced artist – is ideal for those wishing to be creative practitioners in contemporary performance or those seeking career opportunities in the performing arts and entertainment industry.

The Performing Arts and Entertainment Industries major offers a unique combination of creative, practice-based and professional approaches to studying the performing arts, entertainment and creative industries. 

It involves theoretical and practice-based study across a comprehensive suite of performing arts and entertainment industries, including theatre, dance, performance and music, and related disciplines such as film, television and gaming. 

The major will develop your knowledge of the creative processes, management, production and business practices of the performing arts and entertainment industries in live and online contexts.

Academic background and requirement

To apply for an undergraduate program, international students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications:

  • A recognised senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification
  • A recognised university Foundation course
  • A recognised 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree
  • At least one year of a university degree from a recognised institution
