Exercise rehabilitation is an area of allied health that uses exercise to restore good health and physical capability to people after illness or injury.
It also aims to improve the quality of life and manage physical function in people with chronic disease and physical disabilities.
This is a popular course at UOW undertaken by Global Sports Program students.
You will study anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescription, clinical exercise physiology, biomechanics, and neuromechanics as part of your core subjects.
Scientific training will improve your data gathering and analysis skills, physiological systems integration, and, most importantly, understanding the fundamental processes behind healthy and unhealthy human bodies.
This scientific foundation will enable you to adapt to a variety of situations in the workplace and to develop exercise programs for a wide variety of individuals with various health conditions and disabilities.
This degree includes a workplace experience component that requires 140 hours of placement in a community, sporting, scientific, or commercial exercise setting.
Additionally, there is an additional 360 hours of clinical workplace experience to gain advanced clinical training as an exercise physiologist.
It will allow you to practice what you've learned in the course to ensure that you will be work-ready for industry practice in public and private facilities with a generally healthy and clinical focus.
