Overview

Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics

This degree at  UOW is designed for students who wish to develop strong and rigorous mathematical, statistical and computing skills. 

A Data Science and Analytics (Honours) degree is available to candidates with a distinction average or better in the three-year Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics degree.

The Bachelor of Data Science and Analytics teaches highly transferable skills in problem-solving, data analysis, statistics and variability, and statistical and mathematical modelling.

There are opportunities for scholarships from corporate partners, plus summer scholarships and undergraduate research projects with academic staff. 

You will access programs the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) offers and inter-university courses via Access Grid Room.

What you will study

In your first year, you will study core mathematics, statistics, and computer science subjects.

The degree includes industry guest lectures and industry-inspired projects that involve a series of related analyses.

You will complete a Data Analytics and Visualisation subject and a Professional Practice subject involving an industry-relevant project to develop your skills in identifying problems, selecting relevant techniques, communicating effectively and managing projects.

Academic background and requirement

Applicants must have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to completing 13 years of schooling in Australia.

To succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications.

This is particularly important for degrees with a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.
