This course includes a compulsory work placement where you must undertake at least 100 hours in industry, providing professional work experience with an approved host organisation.
Alternatively, high-achieving students may have the opportunity to undertake an extended full-time paid industry-based learning placement (conditions apply).
Elective units may also provide additional opportunities for work-integrated learning experiences.

You will take the Placement Test before the start of your course.
If you're currently studying Year 12 or completed Year 12 in the last two years, you will need to meet all the following criteria to be considered for admission to this degree:
Year 12 prerequisite subjects
Complete foundation studies and/or a diploma program at Deakin College or one of Deakin's TAFE partners.
Australian Foundation Program: 65%
Note: Equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.
The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs.
It aims to prepare you for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor's degree.
The Diploma of Information Technology can gain you entry into the second year of a Deakin University bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science or Software Engineering.
