Suppose you are inspired to teach young children.
In that case, Deakin’s Bachelor of Early Childhood Education allows you to explore early childhood education curriculum theories and pedagogies, child development, health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and professional studies.
Additionally, you will teach and learn in the discipline areas of literacy, mathematics, science, and the arts.
You’ll undertake professional placements through Deakin’s Professional Experience Program, gaining practical knowledge and skills to teach children aged birth to 5 years.
Experiencing learning across a range of early childhood and education settings will ensure you graduate equipped with foundation knowledge and gain confidence to meet the significant growth of the Australian early childhood education sector.
Successful Applicants must hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) before undertaking professional experience placements in education settings as part of this course.
Students will complete 80 days of supervised professional experience placement in a wide range of education and care settings and a 5-day observational experience across their degree in infant and toddler education and care settings.

You will take the Placement Test before the start of your course.
If you're currently studying Year 12 or completed Year 12 in the last two years, you will need to meet all the following criteria to be considered for admission to this degree:
Year 12 prerequisite subjects
Complete foundation studies and/or a diploma program at Deakin College or one of Deakin's TAFE partners.
Australian Foundation Program: 65%
Note: Equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.
The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs.
It aims to prepare you for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor's degree.
