Master of Education (Advanced)

Provides an opportunity for motivated professionals concerned with educational practice to undertake advanced coursework in fields of particular interest.

The course at ECU provides students with knowledge and understanding across a range of specialist areas suited to each student's needs and interests.

The two-year duration makes this course ideal for international students and allows for further development of academic skills and the opportunity to graduate with two specialisations.

Please note that this is not an Initial Teacher Education course/qualification and completion of the Master of Education (Advanced) will not qualify you for accreditation necessary to teach in Australia.

The Academic English Program (AEP) is designed for students who plan to study at an Australian university or who are interested in developing academic reading, writing, listening and communication skills. 

  • Taught in 10-week terms, with possible start dates every five weeks.
  • With a minimum of 65%, you will be able to graduate to the next AEP level or to your designated course.
  • No further English testing is required (except for Nursing and other higher English course requirements).
  • This program is taught on ECU’s Mount Lawley Campus.

Academic background and requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline; or
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.

The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. 

All applicants are required to have a Bachelor of Education

Alternatively, applicants can have a Bachelor level degree in any other field, plus a Graduate Diploma of Education or a Master of Teaching

Note: Special entry may be considered for students with a Bachelor's level degree in another field, or a three-year trained teacher, both supported by extensive professional experience, with equivalents considered.
