5. English Language Proficiency (ELP) for graduate students
Highly-qualified applicants who do not meet the minimum English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirement may be issued a conditional Offer of Admission.
Conditional admission allows applicants to apply for a study permit (if necessary) and begin their studies in the University's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
Applicants admitted via the Conditional English Proficiency Admission route may be permitted to begin their studies provided that the ELP requirement is met by another approved means by August 1 for the fall term, November 15 for the spring term, or April 15 for the summer term.
To be considered for Conditional English Proficiency Admission (ELP), the applicant must:
Hold a baccalaureate degree (i.e. undergraduate degree) from a recognized degree-granting institution, in the discipline of interest or in a closely cognate discipline. NOTE: A background in teaching is not required for the Counselling Psychology major. Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in the terms containing the last 20 graded university courses (60.0 credit hours). Approximately two years of successful teaching experience or/or counselling experience. Volunteer experience in counselling is also desirable. Breadth of undergraduate courses in counselling, educational psychology or psychology. Particular emphasis is paid to courses in human development, personality, psychology of learning, and counselling skills
