The Economics MA program at SFU provides training in a wide range of theoretical, empirical, and policy-relevant fields.
The program is offered on a full-time basis and can be completed in one year.
This program has three options and consists of coursework and either a thesis, research project, or research paper, for a minimum of 40 units.
Co-operative education (Co-op) is an optional university program that provides work experience to complement the MA program. Students in good standing, with a minimum 3.0 CGPA, may apply for Co-op.
The Co-op program consists of one or two work terms. Applications are made through the Arts and Social Sciences Co-op Coordinator during the first term of study.

The usual prerequisite for admission into the MA Program is a Bachelor's degree in economics from a recognized institution. The minimum cumulative grade point average required for admission is 3.0.
Qualified students with a Master’s degree in another discipline may also be admitted.
