Overview

Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of New Brunswick provides a strong foundation in human movement and performance in exercise, sport, work, and wellness.

The program offers a transformative student experience that balances theory with hands-on practice.

Kinesiology offers the creative space to explore scientific experiences in state-of-the-art labs while working alongside leading professors in the field.

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers an honours program, directed studies, a minor in Ergonomics, and practicums in career-related work situations.

Hands-on learning

Kinesiology provides hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom:

Practical lab experiences begin in the first year of study when students apply the knowledge gained in lectures to real-life tests, such as Biomechanical Motion Analysis, Motor Learning Assessments, Influence of Anxiety on Skill Performance, and VO2 Max testing.

Hands-on learning occurs in scheduled laboratory courses and is integrated into lecture-based courses through in-class activities and out-of-class assignments.

Practicums: Some students learn directly from a healthcare worker; others assist with coaching a team or volunteering with a community agency.

Academic background and requirement

Students must complete six specific high school courses, according to their program of choice.

UNB takes the overall average of the high school grades achieved in these six courses to calculate the student’s "minimum admission average", which is used to determine admissibility.

For students who are taking required courses in the second semester of grade 12, and therefore don’t have access to their grades when they apply, the prerequisite course (usually grade 11) will be used to make a grade estimate for the grade 12 course required for admission to your selected program of study.

Please note that UNB does not accept 'mid-term' grades.
