Majors
Work experience
As a part of your degree you will take part in 60 days of work experience to meet accreditation requirements with Engineers Australia.
This provides you with the opportunity to integrate academic theory and real world practice, enhance technical and leadership skills, experience a professional setting, whilst also making valuable connections with industry.
Projects
In addition to compulsory work experience you will also undertake a systems engineering industry project.
In these projects you will work in teams on a given problem statement and develop the requirements and key performance indicators to guide you through the design.
Your team will then proceed through a systems design process including conceptual design, sub-system requirements, and quantitative trade-off analyses, using the full range of engineering science and professional skills developed during your program.
Projects emphasise teamwork, communication skills, team and personal management and a professional approach to engineering design, all of which are highly valuable traits for an engineer.
Internships
The industry links enable opportunities to undertake internships which allow you to gain hands-on experience in a workplace environment relevant to your area of future career interests and current academic studies.
You can also receive credit towards your program based on learning outcomes during your placement.
Other practical experience
Use your knowledge to create a positive impact on society through the Engineers Without Borders placements, participate in Humanitarian Design Summits or go on exchange to complement your students and broaden your networks at one of the partner universities around the world.

ANU College programs deliver pathways to ANU designed to help you successfully transition to undergraduate or postgraduate study.
Academic English Preparation
Academic English Preparation (AEP) is a 10-week program focused on English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
AEP is designed to equip international students with skills and knowledge needed to live and work in Australia, and to successfully transition to other courses at ANUC.
To enrol in AEP, you must have an IELTS of 5.0 (minimum 4.5 in each band) or an overall TOEFL IBT of 40 with a minimum of 12 in writing.
Once enrolled, you must achieve a score of 60 per cent or more to successfully complete AEP. No additional IELTS is required to progress to Foundation Studies or ANU Access.
ANU Access
ANU Access is a 10-week intensive program with a strong focus on academic English.
To be eligible for ANU Access, you must have an overall IELTS of 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) or an overall TOEFL IBT of 68 with a minimum of 18 in writing.
A range of other English language tests are also accepted. Once you successfully complete the program you can enter your degree at ANU.
Applicants who complete a recognised secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application.

Foundation Studies
Foundation Studies is for students who have not studied an Australian Year 12 curriculum. It has been designed to give you the right academic preparation for the ANU Bachelor degree you want to study.
Compulsory courses include academic English, plus mathematics or research skills. You will receive about 20 hours of face-to-face class time per week.
Over 90 per cent of Foundation Studies graduates receive an offer or conditional offer for an ANU Bachelor Degree. To be eligible for Foundation Studies, you must have completed an international equivalent to Australian Year 11.
