Mechatronics engineering at QUT is the design and maintenance of machinery with electronic and computer control systems, such as:
Aircraft and power generators, to work in the high-tech fields of automated systems and robotics
Engineers who can manage the disciplines of mechanical, electrical and computer engineering simultaneously are becoming essential across all industrial sectors:
manufacturing and process industries, primary production and mining, and the service and health industries.
If you are interested in technical and engineering work, mechanical equipment such as robotics, physics and mathematics, a career in mechatronics could be for you.
Work Integrated Learning
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is embedded in the curriculum and is a core component for all engineering students.
WIL allows you to graduate with a portfolio of professional skills that provides evidence of your professional competencies.
You must undertake 60 days of approved work experience in the engineering environment as part of your work integrated learning.

When you have completed this course and met the faculty progression requirements, you will be guaranteed a place in the first year of your chosen bachelor's degree.
There are four foundation streams to choose from, each with 4 units.
You will be allocated to the streams based on your selected Bachelor's degree course and progression requirements (i.e. degree course pre-requisites).
