Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) / Bachelor of Fine Arts (Film, Screen and New Media)

Storytelling for the screen is no longer restricted to big-budget cinema releases and television series commissioned by major networks. 

In Financial Planning, you will first introduce foundational concepts, theories and practices in finance, taxation law and superannuation and retirement planning. 

You will further build your knowledge and skills in insurance, risk, management and estate planning, financial services and law and personal financial planning. 

The need for quality content across digital media delivery platforms such as: 

Subscription TV, mobile devices, internet, promotional campaigns and film festivals 

are leading to lucrative opportunities for multi-skilled professionals to generate highly creative, captivating productions.

This course at QUT gives you a broad base of knowledge, skills and experiences to explore a wide range of career options within the film, television and digital media industries before specializing in an area of your choice. 

If you are interested in producing, you may find your niche as a creative entrepreneur, learning how to generate ideas and develop them into finished productions. 

If your passion is cinematography, editing, sound or directing, you will develop your skills by producing high-quality creative content. 

Alternatively, you may wish to hone your skills in script-writing.

There are requirements that you will need to meet as a student in this course that adds up to your tuition, such as:

Recording materials, video hire, production travel expenses and other associated film and video production costs are approximate $500-$1,000.

Academic background and requirement

Satisfactory completion of Year 12 in an Australian school system or equivalent.

India:

  • Senior/Higher Secondary School Certificate/Pre-University certificate from QUT recognised state education boards with an overall average of 75% in the best five academic subjects.
  • Indian School Certificate academic stream awarded by CISCE with an overall average of 60% in the best five academic subjects.
  • All India Senior School Certificate academic stream awarded by CBSE with an overall average of 60% in the best five academic subjects.

China: 

  • GAOKAO 60% in best 4 academic subjects.
     

Iran:

  • Before 2020: Pre-University Certificate with a grade average of 15 on a 20-point scale.
  • From 2020: National High School Diploma/Secondary School Leaving Certificate with a grade average of 15 on a 20-point scale in the final year (Grade 12).

Intensive Program:

When you have completed this course and met the faculty progression requirements, you will be guaranteed a place in the first year of your chosen bachelor's degree.

There are four foundation streams to choose from, each with 4 units.

You will be allocated to the streams based on your selected Bachelor's degree course and progression requirements (i.e. degree course pre-requisites).
