Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management - Maritime Business Management

The Australian Maritime College’s three-year Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management degree is designed to prepare students for management careers in the dynamic and internationally-focused maritime and logistics industries.

90 per cent of world trade is sent via the oceans, and it takes specialist skills to manage this vast industry. 

Global logistics and maritime management professionals are in demand around the world in diverse industries such as shipping ports, logistics, exporting and importing, freight forwarding, manufacturing and government.

The Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management provides graduates with high-level expertise and knowledge to understand the maritime business in the global arena, the world-wide spanning logistics services and strategies, as well as the structuring, operation and coordination of supply chains.

This major combines business principles with learning specific to maritime management. Your studies will cover international logistics services and strategies, as well as the structuring, operation and coordination of supply chains. 

You’ll graduate with a specialist skill-set, able to pursue careers in sectors such as shipping, chartering, ports and terminals, and freight forwarding.

The Maritime Business Management major aims to provide students with core business principles with learning that is specific to maritime management. It also covers the knowledge and practices of relevant maritime businesses. 

With a focus on delivering practical learning experiences, centred on strategic and analytical thinking and decision-making skills, this major will equip students with a specialist business skillset and an in-depth appreciation of the issues confronting the maritime industries.

Academic background and requirement

Admission to undergraduate courses at the University of Tasmania requires completion of qualifications equivalent to Year 12 Australia.

You can also meet the General Entry Requirement for this course with the following qualifications or prior studies:

  • Completion of an equivalent AQF Certificate IV or above
  • Complete or incomplete (minimum 25 credit points) of previous tertiary study at Bachelor level or higher

Course Specific Requirements

Students intending to undertake the Maritime Technology Management major must have studies or experience equivalent to a satisfactory achievement in the following Tasmanian Senior Secondary subjects:

  • Mathematics Methods or equivalent, and
  • Physical Sciences or equivalent (equivalency includes Chemistry OR Physics)

China: 

Middle School   70% overall for all graded subjects undertaken

India: 

All India Senior School Certificate    65% overall for all subjects undertaken excluding work experience, physical and health education and general studies

Indian School Certificate (ISC)         65% overall for all graded subjects undertaken

Foundation Studies Program:

Foundation Studies programs are a direct academic pathway to first-year undergraduate degree study, or equivalent. 

The programs act as a bridging course for international students who wish to study a university undergraduate degree course but don’t yet meet academic requirements and/or have the English language skills for tertiary study.
