The Bachelor of Business (Honours) is a one-year postgraduate research programme for exceptional Bachelor of Business graduates.

With the Economics specialization in the Bachelor of Business (Honours), you'll explore advanced-level topics in economics and research an area of your interest.

Study the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Economics and learn from academic staff who have been involved in research for government agencies around the world and international agencies like the IMF. 

The AUT School of Economics conducts research that ranges from the effects of international trading arrangements to optimal regulation of labour and other markets.

Class sizes are small and each student has an individual academic supervisor. 

Many of AUT's postgraduate economics students also work part-time as tutors or research assistants. 

As part of your economics honours degree, you also learn how to use sophisticated statistical software to analyze business, financial or social data.

Language courses at AUT International House:

AUT International House is an English language school next to the AUT City Campus. It is part of AUT and offers a range of qualifications, including GIE – the AUT university entrance and preparation programme.

On-campus academic English courses (GIE and IELTS Full-time) at International House:

1) GIE (academic preparation and university entrance programme)

The GIE programme prepares you for entry into most AUT programmes (some health and education programmes require IELTS).

Entry requirement:

IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in Reading and Writing and no less than 5.0 in Speaking and Listening

2) IELTS Full-time

Entry requirement:

There is a different entry requirements for each level of the IELTS course.

  • Level 1: you need IELTS 4.5 with a minimum band score of 4.0
  • Level 2: you need IELTS 5.5 with a minimum band score of 5.0

 

You can also use IELTS Indicator and TOEFL Special Home Edition to meet English language requirements, except for programmes that require an IELTS score higher than the standard or for any doctoral programmes.


Academic background and requirement

  • Bachelor of Business with a B+ (74.50-79.49%) grade average or higher in level 7 courses in the selected subject area, or equivalent
  • Admission to the BBus (Honours) is subject to approval by the Dean (or representative)
