Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

This four-year program, comprising a blend of theoretical and practical work, ensures that you’re career-ready upon graduation. 

You’ll pursue one of the nine specializations available at the university country’s leading Engineering faculty.

Program structure

  • The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) [[BE(Hons)]] is split into four ‘Parts’ that correspond to your year of study.
  • In Part I, you will be exposed to the university's nine available specializations and study a broad base of engineering and professional fundamentals.
  • You will also select a General Education paper – this is a distinctive feature of the University’s undergraduate programs.
  • Parts II, III, and IV are customized according to your chosen specialization. Along with your specialization courses, you will study a common core of mathematical modeling, technical communication, and professional development.
  • Practical work is an essential component of your degree. You will be required to complete a 40-hour workshop practice course in Part II, and 800 hours of practical work experience throughout your degree.

Language pathway (conditional offer) is available

English Language Academy (ELA) pathway programs

You can meet undergraduate English-language requirements by successfully completing the following:

  • The Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP), or
  • The English Pathway for Undergraduate Studies (EPUS).

The ELA grades shown below are deemed to be equivalent to the following IELTS bands for admissions purposes.

  • IELTS 7.0: A- in FCertEAP or EPUS
  • IELTS 6.5: B- in FCertEAP or EPUS
  • IELTS 6.0: C- in FCertEAP or EPUS

 

1_ To be eligible for FCertEAP, students must: (Course length: 20 weeks)

  • Hold a conditional offer of place from a New Zealand tertiary institution that recognizes FCertEAP.

Academic background and requirement

Secondary school qualifications

India: (Average of 85% in Physics and Mathematics)

You need to have one of the following:

  • 12 years of schooling and an overall average of 75 percent in the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC), Indian School Certificate (ISC), Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal State Board Examinations with a minimum of 70 percent in English.
  • 12 years of schooling and an overall average of 80 percent in all other Higher Secondary State Board Examinations with a minimum of 75 percent in English.

China: The National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) otherwise known as Gaokao. (Have a high school diploma or equivalent, Score 80 In Mathematics and Physics)

Subject and other requirements: Mathematics and Physics at HL level

Tertiary qualifications

You can transfer from another tertiary institution if you meet these requirements.

  • You need to have the following: One-year successful bachelor-degree level study at a recognized university (or similar institution) overseas.
  • Grade required = GPE 5.0 (70%-74%)
  • You will also need a sound background in calculus and physics.
