Humber’s Journalism advanced diploma program is designed to produce dynamic storytellers who are immediately ready to work in a variety of media platforms as reporters, broadcasters, editors, producers and digital content managers.
As a journalism student, you’ll gain hands-on skills that are at the forefront of today’s journalism industry including reporting the news, creating broadcast stories, writing feature articles, capturing high-quality images and creating compelling digital presentations.
You will learn how to report on equity-deserving communities, how to use data to inform news and choose from electives in your third year that will allow you to focus on radio, TV, magazine, print, online or investigative journalism.
You will also have to option to work with industry partners on data-informed and/or investigative journalism projects through Humber’s StoryLab.
Students will gain practical, hands-on experience in the industry by completing a mandatory work placement which takes place in the last semester of study.
After completing a work placement preparation course, students will be supported in marketing themselves to prospective employers in order to find a work placement that aligns with their personal career goals.
