Humber’s Esthetician/Spa Management diploma program gives students the business and hands-on practical skills needed for a successful career in the growing esthetic, personal care and spa economy.
Students learn the fundamentals of business administration through studies that include business writing, marketing, spa operations and relevant computer software applications.
Hands-on courses focus on traditional practical skills such as hand and foot care, facial techniques, waxing, body treatments and makeup applications.
As well, students will learn advanced medical esthetic services such as chemical peels, OxyGeneo, microdermabrasion, advanced facials, RF, LED, laser and Intense Pulse Light (IPL).
Students will utilize and improve upon their practical skills in the simulated work environment of The Humber Spa.
Working under the guidance of qualified lab technicians, students will manage the daily operations of the spa including spa reservations and customer service; retail management; sales and marketing; and providing spa services to the community.
In the first year, students will be introduced to spa management and client services, physiology of the skin, professional skin care and product knowledge; and begin their foundational training in practical esthetic and business skills.
In the second year, students will round out their education with studies in marketing, new business development, human resource management and medical esthetics; and demonstrate and improve their skills in the simulated work environment of The Humber Spa.
Two work placements offer students experience working with clients.
