Diploma in Theatre Arts - Performance

The lights dim, the curtain rises and you’re ready to transport the audience, breathing life into words on a page. With the Theater Arts - Performance program, your dream will take center stage.

Surrounded by other artists and working performers, you’ll study for a career on the stage or screen in state-of-the-art facilities in vibrant downtown London. You’ll work with professional directors, actors and instructors who will help you develop as a creative artist. Your professors have real-world experience and will help you hone your voice and movement skills.

What you learn in theater school

This two-year conservatory program will give you practical experience in acting for the stage, mask work, play analysis, improve, and acting for the camera. You’ll also take other specialized master classes and will work with professional artists on a graduating project that will come together as a professional production.

You’ll be guided through a process of discovering a method of acting that brings out your full potential and you’ll emerge with a deep understanding of Shakespeare, theater history, movement for actors, and the business of acting. You’ll emerge with a strong foundation for launching your professional career.

Required documents

In accordance with Ministry policy, the basic eligibility requirement for the entire Ontario College system is any one of the following:

an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent; or
mature student status, i.e. the student has reached the age of 19 years on or before the commencement of the program in which the student intends to enroll and has never graduated from a Secondary School; or
any lesser minimum admission requirements as established by the College on a program-specific basis (e.g. an Adult Training program)

The College will consider applications from all eligible applicants, but admission to specific programs is subject to the program eligibility requirements and selection criteria as well as availability of places.

OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH: - Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U) OR Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE) OR Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) OR Mature Applicant with standing in the required course stated above Applicant Selection Criteria Where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces in the program, the Applicant Selection Criteria will be: Preference for Permanent Residents of Ontario Receipt of Application by February 1st (After this date, Fanshawe College will consider applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full) Achievement in the Admission Requirements
