Overview

Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (Co-op)

Electrical Engineering Technology is a three-year Ontario advanced diploma program that includes up to 16 months of paid co-op experience at Fanshawe College

Students work on electrical, electronic, and digital components combined with a co-op that provides eight months of real-world electrician training and an upgrade to an advanced diploma.

In this program, students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to enable them to work in a wide variety of areas within electrical engineering including industrial process control and power systems.

Students learn about and work with PLCs, electric motors, digital systems, control automation, and transformers and explore the application of technology in the industry.

Senior students continue their studies with telecommunication, networking, HMI, programming embedded systems, and advanced PLC applications.

They also explore applications within industrial processes including machine and motor control, PID systems, and robotics.

Throughout the program, students will also gain experience in safety practices, safety standards, technical writing, and CAD prior to their co-op.

Students will study electrical system design, automation, and power generation/distribution and develop practical skills.

Throughout the program, students will apply this knowledge in conjunction with the Canadian Electrical Code, workplace health and safety, and project management applications
