The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Russian (Thesis) offered by the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts is a research-intensive program that emphasizes relevant and engaging learning opportunities. 

The program's objective is to equip students with skills in cutting-edge thinking, critical reading, and organization to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

  • Faculty members specialize in 19th and 20th century Russian literature and culture, working in such areas as the Russian Novel, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Russian Modernism, Russian Romanticism, High Stalinist Culture, Post-Soviet culture, cultural mythology, intertextuality, and women's studies;
  • The Department collaborates with other McGill University units such as the Department of Art History and Communication Studies, World Cinemas, and the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (IGSF).
