Program Highlights

The Massage Therapy Program at Mohawk College has been awarded Accreditation for a three-year period (2021-2024) by the Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation (CMTCA).

• Work with professors who are recognized industry leaders.
• Participate in clinical courses that provide opportunities to develop skills while practising with various unique populations.
• Work with high-tech equipment in facilities that effectively mirror or surpass industry standards.

  • Hospice and Palliative care
  • Neurological disorders

What you'll learn

• You will gain the knowledge and practical skills required to complete certification examinations administered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).
• You will study an evidence-based curriculum that supports an inter-professional healthcare approach to maximize patient outcomes.
• You will examine the anatomy, physiology and common pathologies of the human body.
• You will develop critical thinking skills to prepare and implement safe and effective treatment plans.
• You will practice alternative health care strategies.
• You will develop the ethical and professional skills and behaviours of becoming a Regulated Health Care Professional.

Certification Examinations and Registration

Your Diploma in Massage Therapy is a requirement for you to be a candidate for the CMTO Certification Examination.

• A copy of Passport - Picture and Address Pages
• All Academic Transcripts - High school and higher
  • High School Transcripts/Mark Sheets and Completion Certificates
  • Degree/Diploma Transcripts/Mark Sheets and Completion Certificates
  • Notarized and translated into English
• English Proficiency Score Cards or equivalent (if applicable)
• Notarized Custodian Declaration (for those under the age of 18 by the start of the class)

• OSSD or equivalent, including:
  • Grade 12 English, C or U level
  • Grade 11 Mathematics, minimum C level (M or U level recommended)
  • Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry, Biology, or Physics
• Additional selection criteria may apply
• Language fluency requirements must be met for applicants.

Options are available for mature applicants.

• Mature applicants aged 19 and over
• Applicants who are not currently in secondary school

Mohawk recognizes that life changes people’s directions. That’s why Mature Students don't need to have completed a secondary school diploma to enter a Mohawk College program.

Mohawk welcomes students from many backgrounds:

• Many Mohawk students arrive after being away from school and/or in the labour force for one year or more
• Almost 1/3 of Mohawk students are aged 23 or over, and there are students from every generation.
• Mohawk considers a mature applicant to be anyone 19 years of age or older who is planning to attend a full or part-time program at Mohawk College.
• Adult learners are an important part of our Mohawk community.
• With various work and life experiences, adult learners contribute their valuable perspectives to classroom and training programs while simultaneously obtaining new knowledge and skills.
