Skilled welders are highly sought after and well-paid. Learn the specialized skills of the trade on industry-standard machines in the 6,312 sq. ft. lab.
You will learn multiple welding processes at one of the 40 individual welding stations at Canadore College, including:
Shield metal arc welding (SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), gas metal arc (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), FUSION welding, brazing, and cutting techniques.
Skills learned are highly transferable and versatile as welding is used in several trades including electrical and automotive. Graduates will have completed all position welding training and possible Canadian Welding Bureau Certification.
Flexible Exit Option – receive a Welder-Fitter Mechanical Techniques Ontario College Certificate after 30 weeks.
NOTE: Successful completion is equivalent to Level 1 Apprenticeship in-class portion.

For the English as a Second Language program, it requires a minimum IELTS score of 3.0; for entry into English for Academic Purposes, a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 is required.
Both programs run full-time for 8 months. Students beginning in English as a Second Language will then take an additional 8 months full-time of English for Academic Purposes before moving into their program of study.
