• Learn from protection, security and investigation professionals in an integrated learning environment at Mohawk College.
• Career strengthening courses in year 2 offer individual students a choice of industry workshops, seminars and/or obtain certificates and licenses while guided and supported by Professors.
• Upon completion of a common first year, you may choose to transfer into the second year of one of the following programs:
  • Community and Justice Services
  • Police Foundations

What you'll learn

• Understand criminal and civil laws involved in the protection of people and properties.
• Development of skills required in protection, security, and investigations careers in dynamic learning environments.
• Explore techniques and challenges in physical security environments in various emergency and criminal scenarios.
• Introduce technologies used in cybercrime investigations.
• Understand and complete the steps to professionally participate in investigations, including report writing, interviewing and evidence collection.
• Develop health, wellness, and stress reduction skills relevant to emergency service careers.

  • High School Transcripts/Mark Sheets and Completion Certificates
  • Degree/Diploma Transcripts/Mark Sheets and Completion Certificates
  • Notarized and translated into English
• English Proficiency Score Cards or equivalent (if applicable)
• Notarized Custodian Declaration (for those under the age of 18 by the start of the class)

• OSSD or equivalent, including:
  • Grade 12 English, C or U or equivalent
• Law courses recommended
• A Police Records Check (PCRC) (pardons are possible, seek legal counsel) and additional selection criteria may be used to assess applicants in this program.
• Additional selection criteria may apply.
• Some employment opportunities require that certain physical standards, driving abstracts and health standards, including vision, must be met.
• Applicants should be advised that employers require a criminal record check (PCRC)
• Applicants are advised that specific requirements must be completed before participating in a co-op placement and that it is their responsibility to ensure the requirements are met.

Options are available for mature applicants.

• Mature applicants aged 19 and over
• Applicants who are not currently in secondary school

Mohawk recognizes that life changes people’s directions. That’s why Mature Students don't need to have completed a secondary school diploma to enter a Mohawk College program.

Mohawk welcomes students from many backgrounds:

• Many Mohawk students arrive after being away from school and/or in the labour force for one year or more
• Almost 1/3 of Mohawk students are aged 23 or over, and there are students from every generation.
• Mohawk considers a mature applicant to be anyone 19 years of age or older who is planning to attend a full or part-time program at Mohawk College.
• Adult learners are an important part of our Mohawk community.
• With various work and life experiences, adult learners contribute valuable perspectives to classroom and training programs while obtaining new knowledge and skills.
