Bachelor of Computer Science

The Bachelor of Computer Science at CDU will prepare you to be part of a continually evolving and diverse field, developing new applications and systems to improve the modern world.

You will develop skills and knowledge in computer science's technical principles and applications and strengthen your problem-solving, decision making and communication skills, making you a confident and competent candidate for a role in the IT industry.

The core units of this program provide students with the necessary computer science skills to be well prepared for work when graduating. 

The program stresses the importance of theory and the application of theory into practice through projects and practical exercises. 

Progression into the Bachelor of Science (Honours) is available for suitable candidates, or students can progress with a Master of Information Technology.

Academic background and requirement

The minimum academic entry requirement for admission to an undergraduate degree is completing a qualification deemed equivalent to an Australian Year 12 high school certificate by the University’s qualification assessment references. 

Admission requirements are met by one of the following:

  • Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and awarding an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60
  • Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate III level or higher
  • Successful completion of at least 0.5 years of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma
  • Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications are considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications

 

Assumed knowledge

Stage 1 Mathematical Methods or equivalent

 

China:

  • Successful completion of a recognised pre-tertiary or foundation program;
  • Or completion of the National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) with a GAOKAO score is required for entry into a Tier Two university in the relevant province.
  • Or Year 12 with a minimum of 70% for Business, Accounting, Art, Social work, Humanitarian and Education courses.
  • Year 12 with a minimum of 80% for Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Nutrition, Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Speech and Language Therapy, Bachelor of Health Science/Master of Occupational Therapy, and Bachelor of Engineering Honours courses.

India:

  • All India Senior School Certificate or Indian School Certificate or Senior Secondary Certificate with an average score of 60% in the best 4 academic subjects, including English
  • Or Higher Secondary Certificate with an average of 75% (for Punjab and Haryana board)
  • Or 65% (for other State Boards)in the best four academic subjects, excluding subjects of local languages, work experience, physical education and other non-academic subjects.

 

International Foundation Studies Program

Completion of a Foundation Studies program provides access to most CDU undergraduate degrees. 

After completing a foundation program, students are well prepared and confident in their academic and English abilities.
