Overview

Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) / Bachelor of Business

The University of Newcastle educates engineers to meet the global challenges of the future.

You'll learn to engineer energy-efficient buildings using the latest materials and help develop sustainable and resilient infrastructure in developing countries.

Perhaps your study will lead you to design Australia’s first high-speed train network to connect communities and reduce carbon emissions.

Your degree could even build a revolutionary water recycling plant to tackle water security issues.

What is civil engineering? Civil engineers are responsible for the physical infrastructure that enables modern societies to function.

As a civil engineering student, you will study buildings, highways and railways, tunnels, airports, power generation, and harbour facilities.

Your courses will focus on preparing you to design, build and manage these structures as a fully qualified civil engineer.

Why combine engineering with business? Complete these two bachelor's degrees in five years - complement your technical skills with business acumen.

Learn how to manage people and projects, start a consulting firm and manage a business. Prepare yourself for a leadership role with this unique package of capabilities.

Students may choose either:

  • The Leadership and Management Major, of which 30 units are Compulsory courses and 40 units are Directed courses; or
  • The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Major, of which 40 units are Compulsory courses and 30 are Directed courses.

Hands-on practical experience: build solid professional networks and hands-on industry experience with 12 weeks of professional practice throughout your degree.
