Asia is home to approximately 60 per cent of the world’s population, with Asian nations emerging as major economic powers while their populations assert their own cultural identities. Asian studies offers instruction in the languages, histories and cultures of China, India, Korea and Japan.
The Faculty of Arts at Manitoba university offers a three-year program of study leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and a minor option.
The general program offers general exposure to the humanities and social sciences and an opportunity to concentrate studies in at least two subject areas.

The English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Manitoba (UM) offers the full-time Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP).
If the student does not meet the English Language Proficiency requirement for their program of interest, the student can take advantage of this program to obtain the Academic English language skills needed to complete a degree.
If you have already achieved one of these minimum test scores, you may be eligible to enter Level 5 of the IAEP directly:
An equivalent minimum average of 70% over the following senior level courses, with no less than 60% in each course: • English • Mathematics • A third academic course • A fourth academic course
