Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours)

Build a career helping others with La Trobe's Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours). 

Develop your professional practice at Australia's largest rural health school and be ready to practice after just five years in this accredited Honours degree.

Understand the foundations of dental science and get hands-on experience in clinical placements across regional Victoria. 

You'll treat patients under the supervision of experienced clinicians and work to improve oral health through prevention, education and clinical care.

If you'd like to explore further research and develop a specialisation, you can also complete a community-based project or research project, which can lead to a doctorate.

Compulsory placements (Work Based Learning)

Academic background and requirement

To enter La Trobe undergraduate programs, at a minimum, you’ll need to have completed Australian Year 12 (or an accepted international equivalent) with a particular grade. 

Subject Prerequisites:

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in Chemistry.

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in Biology.

 

China:

China National College Entrance Examination (GAOKAO): 75%

China Senior Middle School 3 (Gao San): Not accepted. Completion of GAOKAO (or equivalent) is required.

 

India:

All Indian Secondary School Certificate: 85%

India State Boards: 90%

 

Foundation Study: 

Foundation Studies is a bridging course to prepare international students for their University studies. 

Completing the Foundation Studies program with a 60% grade point average will provide you with a guaranteed pathway into the first year of an undergraduate degree at La Trobe University.
