Bachelor of Earth Sciences - Integrated Earth and Marine Sciences (Extended Major)

The Bachelor of Earth Sciences at UWA is ideal for students who are curious about the complex system that comprises the solid Earth, its oceans and atmosphere, and the place of Earth in the solar system and beyond.

You will learn high-level skills in the collection and interpretation of geoscientific data, in both terrestrial and marine settings, as well as advanced data analysis and synthesis techniques. 

These skills will equip you for a future career in federal, state and local government agencies, consultancy and private industry related to minerals, petroleum, groundwater and coastal zone management, as well as research and development careers across the Earth and Marine Sciences.

Integrated Earth and Marine Sciences extended major offers you a research-led experience in studying Earth: from the planet's early history to its foreseeable future, and from the ocean floors to the high mountains. 

You will learn key skills in the collection and interpretation of geoscientific data, in both terrestrial and marine settings, as well as data analysis and synthesis techniques.

Academic background and requirement

Mathematics requirement

This major requires a certain level of Mathematics. If you do not meet this level, you may be able to take additional Mathematics units in your first year to satisfy this requirement.

To be eligible for entry into an undergraduate program at UWA, you'll need to demonstrate academic performance through your school-leaving qualification or previous university study.

 

The minimum academic requirement for entry to The Western Australian Universities Foundation Program (WAUFP) is a Year 11 qualification or equivalent.
