Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The study of psychology helps you gain a deeper understanding of human behaviour, thoughts and feelings.

As a psychology major, you will study the developmental mechanisms and processes that regulate the behaviour of individuals.

Your first two years feature courses in the psychology of learning, lifespan development, social psychology, biopsychology and statistics.

Delve into emotion and motivation, sensation and perception, cognition, abnormal psychology, and theories of personality in your third and fourth years.

You'll have the opportunity to conduct a research project with a faculty member by applying to the Honours degree program or as an Independent Study. 

You will learn from faculty and researchers who study physiology and behaviour, positive psychology, intercultural communication, ecological and conservation psychology, embodied cognition, and conceptual and language processing.

Psychology is the study of behaviour, feelings and thinking.

The Department of Psychology at UNBC aims to provide advanced knowledge in the substantive areas of Psychology. 

In addition, the Department provides excellent training that enhances the student's competitiveness for advanced graduate study in Psychology and related areas. 

The B.Sc. in Psychology (Major or Honours) total is 122 credit hours.

Academic background and requirement

Overall average of 65% minimum in the following:

  • English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12
  • Three Approved Academic Grade 12 Course
  • Additional Grade 12 Course (Elective or Academic)

China:

  • 会考 HUIKAO - Senior Secondary School Certificate or 高考GAOKAO - National College Entrance Examination: Minimum overall average grade 70% (B)
  • or a pass in English plus three academic subjects and an elective.

India:

  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)/Standard 12/Indian School Certificate/All India School Certificate Examination. Minimum average grade 50% or higher in English 12, three academic subjects and an elective for general entry.
  • Three-year diploma issued by a state board of technical education: Minimum average grade of 50% or higher for general entry.
  • GCE Edexcel or Cambridge International Examinations: Minimum of two Advanced (A) level subjects and three Ordinary (O) level subjects must be completed with an overall grade point average of C or higher to be considered for admission.

All A-level subjects presented for admission must have a grade of at least C. Students may substitute two Advanced-Subsidiary (AS) level subjects for one A-level. This is for general entry. 

Iran:

  • From 2019: High School Diploma (Theoretical Stream): Minimum average grade of 12 in 5 academic courses for general entry.
  • Before 2019: High School Diploma and pre-University Certificate. A minimum average grade of 12 or higher in pre-university courses for general entry.
