The Master of Physics course at UWA is about understanding the world at its most fundamental level.
The knowledge generated through the study of physics is also the driving force behind most new technologies, from radars to lasers, from transistors to quantum computers, and from electron microscopes to advanced medical imaging scanners.
You’ll develop the knowledge and skills to combine physics principles with engineering methods and techniques in the clinical environment and in research, for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.
The Medical Physics specialisation provides students from physics and engineering backgrounds with the relevant knowledge and problem-solving skills suitable for entry into The Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) Training, Education and Accreditation Program (TEAP) in the fields of Radiation Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine.
A series of focused coursework units will provide you with relevant background knowledge in topics such as human biology, radiation protection, radiobiology, medical imaging and radiotherapy.
You will undertake a research project on an appropriate medical physics topic that will develop your independent research and analytical abilities and give you an experience of current diagnostic and therapeutic technologies used in the medical system.
