Study the Environmental Sciences major in the Bachelor of Science and explore how species interact with each other and with their physical environment.
New Zealand’s spectacular natural environment is the envy of the world. In the Environmental Sciences major you can immerse yourself in this environment through the field trips that are an essential part of this major.
You explore the ecological principles of freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems, animal behaviour and ecology, and plant ecology. This understanding is essential to protect New Zealand’s unique natural environment, and is an essential foundation for many rewarding environmental sciences careers.
In your final year you can enrol in the Research Project course (30 points) if you have at least a B grade average in 60 points at level 6. This may involve working on an industry-related project related to your major.

All applicants need to meet AUT’s minimum entry requirements qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13 or University Entrance.

If you don’t have the academic qualifications needed for direct entry into an AUT programme, you can enrol in a foundation programme.
If you successfully complete the foundation programme and the get the required grades, you are guaranteed entry into an appropriate AUT programme.
AUT has established a partnership with NCUK, enabling you to study at a NCUK Study Centre in your home country, and then come directly into your chosen AUT degree.

AUT International House is an English language school next to the AUT City Campus. It is part of AUT and offers a range of qualifications, including GIE – the AUT university entrance and preparation programme.
On-campus academic English courses (GIE and IELTS Full-time) at International House:
The GIE programme prepares you for entry into most AUT programmes (some health and education programmes require IELTS).
IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in Reading and Writing and no less than 5.0 in Speaking and Listening
There is a different entry requirement for each level of the IELTS course.
