The MA offers you a range of choices. There are research and taught degrees, one (120-point) or two-year (240-point) options depending on your entry qualification, and more than 40 subjects for study.

English Language Academy pathway programmes
You can meet postgraduate English language requirements by successfully completing:
1_ The Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP), or
2_ The English Pathway for Postgraduate Studies (EPPS).
Taught 240 points:
1_ A bachelors degree with a major in Language Teaching/TESOL, or in Linguistics, or a language, or other relevant subject with the approval of the Academic Head or nominee.
Or,
2_ A bachelors degree and at least two years of second language teaching experience.
You must have a Grade Point Average of 5.0 (70%-74.9%) or higher in at least 45 points above Stage II in the major. The following subject may also be considered for entry: Language Education in any language.
Many graduates of Linguistics become educators in the tertiary or adult education sectors both in New Zealand and overseas.
Past graduates have gone on to achieve in many different roles, from managing a language school to being involved in academic administration, from coordinating language courses to teaching in Universities, polytechs and English language centers in New Zealand.
