Master of Professional Accounting

The MProfAcctg is a professional coursework master's programme at the University of Auckland that will provide you with knowledge and skills in business, accounting, finance, commercial law, and taxation.

It will enable you to continue developing personally and professionally in your career and provide the academic preparation for graduates seeking to qualify as chartered accountants or certified practising accountants. 

The programme is recognised by CAANZ, CPA Australia, ACCA, and CIMA.

The MProfAcctg is an 18-month, 240-point programme studied over six quarters. 

You will study core business courses along with a set of specialised accounting and related courses.

You will also complete two professional development modules as an important component of your degree. 

These will equip you with the professional skills needed to enhance your employability and success in the business world.

English Language Academy pathway programs

You can meet postgraduate English language requirements by successfully completing:

  • The Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP), or
  • The English Pathway for Postgraduate Studies (EPPS).

The ELA grades shown below are deemed to be equivalent to the following IELTS bands for admissions purposes.

  • IELTS 7.0: A- in FCertEAP or EPPS
  • IELTS 6.5: B- in FCertEAP or EPPS

 

1-To be eligible for FCertEAP, students must: (Course length: 20 weeks)

  • Hold a conditional offer of place from a New Zealand tertiary institution that recognizes FCertEAP.
  • Meet the English Language entry requirements for FCertEAP through one of the below test results (see table).
  • IELTS Indicator can also be accepted during 2022 until further notice.

Academic background and requirement

  • You must have completed an undergraduate degree in business or a non-business degree in a relevant discipline such as arts, engineering, technology, or science.
  • Your study must be from a recognised university (or similar institution) and you will need a GPE of 5.0 (70%-74.9%) in the most advanced courses taken.
  • If you have completed advanced course(s) in an undergraduate degree that are considered substantially similar to courses in this programme you will be required to complete substitute course(s).
