Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Finance

If you have achieved consistently high grades in your Bachelor of Commerce degree (or equivalent) you could be eligible for the honours program. 

It will provide you with an additional 120 points of postgraduate research-based (Taught) study to develop your analytical skills and critical thinking.

You will complete a set of advanced courses in the discipline and a short supervised dissertation or project that will demonstrate your independent research skills.

  • The Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP), or
  • The English Pathway for Postgraduate Studies (EPPS).

The ELA grades shown below are deemed to be equivalent to the following IELTS bands for admissions purposes.

  • IELTS 7.0: A- in FCertEAP or EPPS
  • IELTS 6.5: B- in FCertEAP or EPPS

  • Hold a conditional offer of place from a New Zealand tertiary institution that recognizes FCertEAP.

Academic background and requirement

Taught 120 points:

You must have completed an undergraduate business degree from a recognized university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 5.0 (70%-74%) in the highest level of courses required for the major.

 

Entry requirements:

  • Admission to the BCom(Hons) is by invitation only and is based on superior grades. Please note that invited students still need to apply.
  • Prerequisites are a major in Finance and MATHS 208 or STATS 208 or equivalent courses as approved by the Head of the Department
