Diploma - Community and Justice Services

This program at Cambrian College blends corrections theory with practical experiences building your skills and confidence.

You begin college immersed in a two-night, three-day field trip experience of Indigenous ways of knowing.

The foundational teachings in this field trip grow your understanding of self-care strategies and support your knowledge of healing/rehabilitation practices.

Every semester, the college brings you to the field or the field experts to you with numerous guest speakers currently employed in the field who will share their tips, stories, and an outstanding breadth of knowledge.

The concentrated focus on practical application includes:

  • therapeutic intervention and security
  • communication and rapport building
  • de-escalation and conflict resolution
  • program development and facilitation
  • report writing and case management

Your college experience is capped off with a 10-week, 350-hour field placement follow by specialized professional development training in self-defence, suicide intervention, and interprofessional collaborative practices.
