Overview

Diploma - Workplace Safety and Prevention

The Workplace Safety & Prevention Technician program is designed to assist students in understanding current occupational health and safety legislation and to identify, assess, and manage risk and hazards in a variety of work environments. 

Many industries, such as mining, forestry, construction, manufacturing, power generation, health care, and many more, are actively seeking specially trained workers to support and promote healthier and safer workplaces. 

You will also be trained in areas of workplace wellness and human resource management.  

Graduates will be able to conduct risk assessments and common industrial hygiene tests to prevent hazards and harm to workers, property, the environment, and the public. 

Students will also develop the skills necessary to identify and report on safety and health conditions in a workplace.

This program combines on-site courses and synchronous virtual learning courses throughout all semesters.

This program is delivered in partnership with Lambton and Seneca Colleges. 

Students are taught from faculty from all three colleges and will study alongside students from Cambrian, Lambton and Seneca. 

Program Highlights:

  • Full-time and part-time options
  • Learn from experts around the province with expertise in a variety of industries
  • Complete 4 semesters of theory & labs, then gain work experience by completing a full-time placement for 7 weeks during the 5th semester
  • Placements employers include - construction, mining, chemical processing, science labs, trucking, manufacturing, government, and many others!
  • Diverse and dynamic classroom experience
  • Additional skills developed - communication, problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, negotiation, conflict management, project and change management.
