Overview

Honours Bachelor of Science in Theoretical Physics

With more mathematics courses than a standard physics major, you will gain the advanced mathematical agility required to work in modern theoretical physics. Apply your special expertise to fields as diverse as black-hole structure calculations, theory of superconductivity, the physics of nuclei and neutron stars, or stock market analysis.

Immerse yourself in a more mathematically oriented approach to physics. In Theoretical Physics, you’ll take more mathematics courses than in the Physics major, gaining the mathematical skills needed to understand the fundamental basis of topics such as black holes, the internal quark structure of protons and neutrons, and the underpinnings of high-temperature super-conductivity. Courses such as Quantum Mechanics, Optics and Subatomic Physics will be balanced with the development of excellent problem solving and computing abilities that can be applied in a wide variety of careers.

Theoretical physics is a more mathematically-oriented approach to physics that develops mathematical skills in studying topics like black holes, the internal structure of protons and neutrons, and high temperature superconductivity. Your physics and math courses will build problem solving and computing abilities for a wide variety of careers.
