The University of Guelph offers general and honours programs leading to the B.A. degree

The music program is designed to provide students with experience and breadth of knowledge across the sector. 

Music offers a contemporary focus with areas of emphasis to support students in research creation and performance.

Rethinking and reimagining the past is changing how think about ourselves, traditional silos of knowledge are collapsing, and power is shifting. 

Music reflects and helps shape these continuous changes. 

The Music program offers an experience that will equip students with music-making skills, critical ideas and thinking, and inclusive practices that will help them to succeed. 

The program uses kinds of music from a broad range of styles, genres, and worldwide traditions, kinds of music both old and new, pieces of music traditional and experimental, performative and contemplative, all in equal measure.

English Language Certificate Program (ELCP)

The English Language Certificate Program (ELCP) is an intensive academic English program designed to prepare you for academic success. You will learn the skills you need to succeed in university studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The 7-week terms include 20 instructional hours per week.

Academic background and requirement

Requirements:

  • English

India:

Completion of a Class 12 State Board Certificate in the required academic stream with strong First Division standing.

For example:

  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) OR Indian School Certificate (ISC)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (ISC) OR
  • Punjab School Education Board (PSEB)

For early admission decisions, students may submit verified 10th standard board results accompanied by anticipated Class 12 grades listed by subject from the school, with a minimum average of 80%.

Iran:

Diploma Metevaseth/National High School Diploma (after 12 years) or Pre-university year + Diploma Metevaseth with a minimum of 16.

China: 

1. Students progressing through Upper Middle School: the Academic Proficiency Test (APT)/HuiKao from CHESICC-Parchment Portal Service with a minimum of 5 relevant required subjects for the degree and major, along with school documents for grades 10, 11, and first semester Grade 12 are required. 

Final official Upper Middle School Graduation Certificate will be required in August from the CHESICC-Parchment Portal Service.

2. Students who finished high school in a previous year are required to submit the Upper Middle School Graduation Certificate and the Chinese National University Entrance Examinations (NCEE) including a minimum of 5 relevant required subjects. 

All documents and English translations must be sent directly to Admission Services through CHESICC-Parchment Portal Service.

 

Note: There is NO audition required for admission, all about harnessing potential, but the ability to play an instrument/voice is necessary.
