Overview

Honours Bachelor of Arts - English

These programs are offered in English only. All assignments and examinations must be submitted or written in English.

Gain reading, writing, research, and critical thinking skills that you will find invaluable throughout your life.

A degree in English allows you to use the great stories of the past and present – whether in novels, poetry, movies, or graphic novels – to engage with today’s most pressing issues, be they social, environmental, technological, or aesthetic.

In addition to minors in creative and professional writing, Department also offers one of the very few English literature co-op programs in Canada, allowing you to acquire valuable career experience and get paid while studying what you love.

Department is proud to offer courses in all the major historical periods and national traditions of literature in English, as well as on topics like science fiction, fantasy, children’s literature, digital publishing, and environmental literature.

Combine your English degree with a minor in creative writing or choose the CO-OP stream to gain valuable work experience. The English major and honours degrees allow you to tap into your imagination while gaining skills critical for success.
