Overview

Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing

The Bachelor of Commerce focuses on the development of basic business and managerial competencies combined with an understanding of globalization and its implications.

The program consists of three types of courses: core, major/minor and elective. Core courses develop fundamental skills and abilities in business and management.

Upon completion of core courses, the student will choose one of seven majors

Accounting, Human Resources Management, International Business, Legal Studies in Business, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management.

Co-operative Education streams at MacEwan University are also available.

Students may explore their options in completing a second major, one or two minors, or a double major with a non-business minor.

The marketing major curriculum provides students with both breadth and depth of study in general education, core business topics and marketing-specific study.

The Marketing major focuses on marketing fundamentals, strategy, analysis and quantitative measurement.

The focus on marketing strategy will provide students with an understanding of the marketing function and how that aligns with other organizational functions.

Marketing research drives not only promotion (of which advertising is one small component) but also price, placement and product decisions.

Students will undertake projects that involve conducting research and analyzing marketing metrics.

The context in which students will be studying includes local, national and international marketing initiatives.
