The Master of Materials Engineering is designed to meet the demand of future engineering challenges by delivering next-generation education for the design, process, and application of new and advanced materials with cutting-edge properties.
The development of this program is underpinned by the industrial and societal needs for optimal efficiency, affordability and sustainability of these new materials.
The program will provide a strong theoretical, practical and analytical framework to understand the challenges, problems and solutions of energy & catalysis materials, optical materials and quantum materials.
This program at the University of Adelaide is about traditional applications and developing cutting-edge industrial technologies and functional nanomaterials.
You’ll also be able to take specialist courses in your chosen major: Energy, Quantum, or Optical.
And you’ll apply and expand your learning through a major research project supervised by leading Adelaide engineers and scientists.

The Pre-Enrolment English Program (PEP) is a direct entry pathway into further studies at the University of Adelaide for students that have not met the minimum English language entry requirements of their award program.
The PEP is offered in 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 weeks.
