Learn how to manage and safeguard the financial transactions of businesses. Combine the skills and knowledge of accounting principles, auditing, taxation, business law and financial management with a working knowledge of the Australian banking system and the environment of business. 

In this double major you’ll develop a detailed understanding of financial issues which will give you the ability to make productive contributions to your employer early in your career.

This double major sits within the Bachelor of Commerce degree. To apply for this major, you will apply for the Bachelor of Commerce.

Industry Internship

  • Attend employer presentations. In the past, organizations have included Google, Coca-Cola Amatil, EY and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to attend several CPA events, including professional connection mentoring days, employ-ability boot camps and career information sessions.
  • Learn from staff who undertake practical research in areas such as energy economics, public economics and the economics of electronic commerce.
  • Use real case studies and examples to apply your learning and problem-solving skills.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia has partnered with Curtin to offer internships to students who have completed 200 credits or more of their commerce degree. 

These internships will give you credit towards your degree, increase your industry experience and put you in direct contact with leading professionals.

Academic background and requirement

Australian Year 12 (or an accepted international equivalent)

You must maintain a CWA(course weighted average) of 70 or higher to remain on course.

 

India:

  • Indian School Certificate (ISC): 60% from the best four subjects and at least 60% in English or separate evidence of English competence
  • All India Senior School Certificate/ Delhi Senior School Certificate Examination: 60% in the best four subjects and at least 60% in English or separate evidence of English competence
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate: 65% in the best five subjects

 

China:

  • Gao Kao: 67% of the overall maximum score, or a grade of 322/480,402/600, 503/750, 543/810 or 603/900
  • successful completion of the first year of a four or five-year Bachelor's degree at a recognised University  or authorised degree-granting institution, separate evidence of English competence is required

 

Iran:

  • Successful completion of the first year of a four-year Bachelor's degree at a Section 1 Higher Education institution listed on AEI CEP, separate evidence of English competence is required.
