Overview

Bachelor of Medical Biotechnology (Honours)

How does our unique genome give rise to disease?

How can we develop new therapies to treat the world’s most prevalent illnesses or new approaches that could provide food to nourish those living in famine?

Medical biotechnology is the application of exciting advances in molecular and cell biology to medicine, human health and disease.

The Bachelor of Medical Biotechnology (Honours) at UOW encompasses the rapidly evolving fields of proteomics, genetic engineering, data science and molecular analysis.

By using cutting-edge technologies, such as molecular modelling and design, biotechnology is shaping diverse aspects of medicine (e.g. cancer, vaccines, disease therapy and diagnostics, and medical devices) and many other fields (e.g. veterinary science, food production).

This course will provide you with the tools and knowledge to work in any of these fields.

Honours include a focused research project performed under the supervision of an experienced research academic and is built into the fourth year of this program.

During Honours, you will acquire the theoretical and practical skills necessary for your future career, including written and oral communication, teamwork, time management and data analysis.
