Overview

Master of Engineering Science

This research program at ECU provides for advanced-level research in electrical, electronic, computer, communication, civil, chemical, mechanical or mechatronic engineering.

Course learning outcomes

  1. Demonstrate specialist knowledge and understanding of theory, practice and recent developments in engineering.
  2. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of research principles and methods through the review and analysis of existing research relevant to work and learning in the engineering discipline.
  3. Reflect critically on theory and its application to engineering.
  4. Investigate analyse and synthesise complex concepts and problems in engineering through the application of advanced technology, physical and numerical modelling and simulation.

Note: Students are required to continue re-enrolling in the thesis component of their study until the thesis is submitted for examination. (Master of Engineering Science Thesis)

The Academic English Program (AEP) is designed for students who plan to study at an Australian university or who are interested in developing academic reading, writing, listening and communication skills. 

  • Taught in 10-week terms, with possible start dates every five weeks.
  • With a minimum of 65%, you will be able to graduate to the next AEP level or to your designated course.
  • No further English testing is required (except for Nursing and other higher English course requirements).
  • This program is taught on ECU’s Mount Lawley Campus.

Academic background and requirement

All applicants are required to have a four year Bachelor degree in engineering with a minimum course average of 65%, with equivalents considered.

  • Bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline; or
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
