The Master of Education is designed to help education professionals engage with advanced knowledge, critical analysis and research skills in the broader area of education.
The programme offers flexibility, has a simple structure, and enables students to pursue an area of interest through research. It aims to prepare students to undertake research in education.
This is not a teaching qualification and it does not lead to registration as a teacher with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
You can also complete the Master of Education without a specialisation.
You need a total of 180 points to successfully complete the Master of Education, including completing either a dissertation or a thesis where you can explore a topic of your interest.

AUT International House is an English language school next to the AUT City Campus. It is part of AUT and offers a range of qualifications, including GIE – the AUT university entrance and preparation programme.
On-campus academic English courses (GIE and IELTS Full-time) at International House:
The GIE programme prepares you for entry into most AUT programmes (some health and education programmes require IELTS).
Entry requirement:
IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in Reading and Writing and no less than 5.0 in Speaking and Listening

1_ A relevant bachelor's degree with a B (70%-75%) grade average or higher in level 7 courses (or equivalent)
