The Master of Applied Finance provides you with the skills for a wide range of financial fields.
It’s designed for professionals with an unrelated degree who want to gain the specialized skills for a career in the finance industry.
These skills include concepts and techniques related to corporate finance, investment and financial risk analysis, restructuring and governance, an understanding of current issues in international investment, and the development of portfolio management strategies.
The AUT Business School is part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.
The Master of Applied Finance curriculum is based on the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) from the CFA Program and this degree will position you well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst designation – a globally respected and recognized investment credential.
The Master of Applied Finance is taught over three 10-week trimesters. Each trimester includes 10 weeks of teaching with exams scheduled in weeks 11 and 12.
All courses are 15 points with the exception of the Research Project in Applied Finance which is 45 points. Textbooks are included in your course fees.

AUT International House is an English language school next to the AUT City Campus. It is part of AUT and offers a range of qualifications, including GIE – the AUT university entrance and preparation programme.
On-campus academic English courses (GIE and IELTS Full-time) at International House:
The GIE programme prepares you for entry into most AUT programmes (some health and education programmes require IELTS).
Entry requirement:
IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in Reading and Writing and no less than 5.0 in Speaking and Listening

There is a different entry requirements for each level of the IELTS course.
You can also use IELTS Indicator and TOEFL Special Home Edition to meet English language requirements, except for programmes that require an IELTS score higher than the standard or for any doctoral programmes.
Must have completed a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline) with a B- (64.50-69.49%) grade average or higher in courses at level 7 or equivalent.
